为了积极配合校大学生英语演讲比赛的开展，响应广大英语爱好者的要求，同时为了调动同学们对英语学习的兴趣，提高同学们的英语口语能力和实用能力，举行了这次英语演讲比赛，经过老师的大力支持和各部门的帮助以及参赛选手的努力，本次比赛基本上取得了成功，能够达到预期的目的。

活动时间：x年3月29日

活动地点：图书馆报告厅

一，流程安排：主持人宣布演讲比赛开始，并介绍评委及嘉宾。进入比赛第一关，选手按顺序进行演讲，演讲内容包括绿色奥运，环境保护，热爱家乡等方面。演讲过后，由国贸的同学演唱一首英语歌曲《bigbig，请保留此标记。）并及时配合学校的各项工作，建立和谐校园。另外，此次比赛使得参赛选手充分展现了自我，肯定了自我，使选手们克服了对开口讲英语的恐惧感，树立学好英语的信心，更加调动了选手对英语学习的积极性，考察并提高了选手对英语的运用及应变能力。此次比赛，不仅丰富了同学的课余生活，并更能够丰富同学的语言文化，增强同学的主人翁意识。也希望通过本次比赛，让越来越多的同学喜欢英语，学习英语，热爱英语，为北京奥运讲英语。

四，存在问题：在比赛过程中，我们发现了很多不足之处，比赛仍有很多漏洞。首先，在为评委准备笔时，我们忽略了笔没有水的问题，结果真的有一支笔不好使了。因此，我们的比赛很可能就是因为一支笔而不能正常进行。从中，反映了我们的工作的不细致，一些细节问题没有注意到，是我们工作的一大疏忽。其次，在每位选手结束演讲后，我们没有安排专门的工作人员去评委手中拿评分表，不得不让我部部长去担任此工作，这同样是我们工作的不周全之处，人员安排上仍不是很合理。还有，在比赛进行到即兴演讲环节时，主持人让第一环节的得分最高的选手先抽题进行演讲，这样安排同样也是不合理的，而是应该让得分高的选手后演讲，留给她更多的时间去思考，以便其更好的发挥出其过人的英语口语水平，展示其英语功底。所以，我们会吸取本次比赛的经验教训，在以后的工作中，注重细节，考虑周全，争取将工作做的更好！

五，改进意见：就活动中存在的缺点及不足予以改正，用心考虑好每一个细节，要做到精益求精，工作分工要明确，人员安排要合理有序，对于比赛现场有可能发生的事情，提前想好对策。虽然本次活动在音响和话筒上没有出现较大的问题，但是我们以后在搞活动的同时仍然会在这方面多加注意。

我们会在此次活动的基础上，改进缺点与不足，继续发扬此次活动的优点，在不足之处，我们会在以后的活动中多加注意，争取将缺点一一改正。此外，在这学期之内，我们部会开展更多更加有意义的活动，来丰富同学的课余生活，从活动中感受快乐！

1、 此次演讲比赛诣在提高规范同学们的口语，与此同时，也锻炼了同学们的英语表述能力，使同学们积累了演讲比赛的经验，为此以后的大型演讲比赛提供了可能，通过这次比赛，不仅仅让同学们发挥了自己的潜能，向所有人展示了自己，而且为今后的专业性比赛奠定了基础。

2、同时此次演讲比赛的成功举行，使协会全体干事对自己的工作进一步了认识和了解，对今后的工作充满了自信和动力，最后真诚地感谢所有同学对本次活动的支持，是你们的支持才有了此次活动的成功举办。

4这次英语演讲比赛提高了协会学生学习英语的积极性，丰富了他们的课余生活。同时，我们也从英语演讲比赛中发现了一些学习英语的问题。如：

学生的英语底子薄弱；学生学习英语的积极性不够高。有的学生胆子不够大，有的在台上胆小。

由于这些问题的存在，我协会今后要从以下几个方面着手来提高协会成员学习英语的兴趣，提升协会成员英语学习氛围。

1、 定期开展一些有针对性的学习讲座和活动。让学生学以致用，陶冶情操，开阔视野。

2、 我们被鼓励每周二在英语角大胆地说英语

3、 定期向兄弟会学习，借鉴他们的经验，为我们使用。

活动总结

11级风采杯“感恩、奋斗”主题英语演讲比赛于12月6日在大学生之家圆满落幕。从初选12名选手到最后演出，通过学习部所有人员的努力和选手们的配合，历时两个月的排练终于画上了圆满的句号现对本次活动总结如下：

从整场比赛的效果来看还是算成功的，当然这离不开辅导员老师及学工办各位老师的支持和鼓励以及学生会各部门的大力配合，首先要感谢他们。其次是学习部所有人员的辛苦付出和选手们的积极配合，在这里我感谢我的部员们：张书敏、吴双、刘鸿宇、徐金爽、陶鹏。

是他们每天陪选手们排练到

9、 到了十点钟，没有他们的合作，我们就不能随心所欲了。最重要的是在这两个月的朝夕相处中，教会选手们的不仅仅是英语口语的演讲，还有那种感恩的心、团队的精神和那份友情

事情总是“看花容易绣花难”，虽然有过上一次风采杯比赛晚会的经验但弥补不足的同时还是会出现新的问题。一是赛前准备不够，观众无序进入体育场，对比赛细节考虑不够周全。第二，没有考虑到舞台的效果。第二个环节后，由于背景的变化，舞台效果不佳。

三是收场太仓促，达不到预期效果。其次是节目排的还是有点欠缺。

在比赛初期，大课堂各干事在各班进行宣传，鼓励各班的同学积极报名，预赛报名率达到预定的40%参赛率，有个别班级甚至达到80%的参赛率，预赛于11月12日在1514.1513.1512进行，经过裁判的评判和点评，共有四十名选手进入复赛，复赛于11月15日在1514教室进行，四十名进入复赛的选手，经过又一轮的角逐，共有十九民选手脱颖而出“冲”入决赛，决赛于11月23日19：

(四)、参赛选手对本次比赛的评价及宝贵意见。

怀着对英语的极大兴趣和对新事物的热情，我决定挑战自己参加这次比赛。通过这次比赛，我认识了很多新朋友，证明了自己的实力，也让我对英语学习更有信心。我希望所有的学生在将来的英语学习中能取得更大的成就。

为了丰富同学们的课余生活以及激发大家对英语的学习兴趣，我系学习部于20xx年4月29日举办了英语演讲比赛，活动地点定于4107教室晚七点，英语演讲比赛工作总结。

一、活动过程与效果

比赛共由来自大一的5位选手以及大二英语系的四位学姐评委组成。比赛中选手们依次进行了自己的演讲。

比赛共分为两轮，第一轮分为两个小版块，包括自我介绍和自己准备的小短文朗读，这一轮比赛满分为5分，每一位选手-演讲结束后都会有评委进行打分（评分制度：去掉最高分和最低分取中间的平均值），所有选手都进行过一轮后会有五分钟的休息时间，然后进行第二轮比赛，第二轮比赛满分为10分，选手要进行主题演讲(我们已经提前把演讲题目告知给给参赛选手)，然后由评为进行打分。所有的打分结束后统计出前三名，最终由数字媒体专业的谢正亚，王燕，以及影动的.李冯同学分别获得前三名的佳绩。

本次的演讲大体上来说不是很成功，虽然大家也为比赛准备了，但是不难看出来由于时间原因还是没有准备的很充足，工作总结《英语演讲比赛工作总结》。

二、活动中出现的问题

1）活动通知以及举办时间比较紧，整个演讲比赛显得准备不够充分。

2）部分同学不够重视这次比赛，甚至连比赛的制度都不知道，制度在比赛之前已经给各位选手看过。

3）比赛当天院里有职业规划大赛，在时间上我们处于劣势，很多同学也是因为这个原因没有前来观看我们的比赛，导致比赛很冷清。

三、活动经验总结

这次活动我们大家还是有很大收获的，英语就在我们的日常生活中，用第二种语言进行交流我们会发现更多的乐趣，也丰富的大家的课余时间。另外，我们的活动应该做到分工明确且考虑到各种问题以及小细节等，保证每一个小点都不会出错，并且要有良好的心理素质面对突发事件，比如有选手没来参赛，迟到等等。最重要的一点，不要和其他活动的时间有冲突，起码要保证自己的活动有一定的观众。

----活动总结

为了提高学生英语学习的积极性，鼓励、支持、引导英语口语、英语听力等方面的学习。同时也为选拔英语水平优秀的学生，为我们的学院争光，同时作为学生英语学习的目标和模式。特此举办了一次英语演讲比赛。

我院的主题为“my top concern ,my colourful university life”的英语演讲比赛于10月21日晚上7：00在d102举行。

在这次活动中，我们邀请了疯狂英语协会的骨干和英语四、六级口语好的学生作为本次比赛的评委。

活动流程：

1参赛者抽签决定比赛顺序。

2主持人致开幕词，介绍评委并宣布比赛开始。

3、选手上场演讲，评委提问并打分。

4演讲结束后，由工作人员进行计分；疯狂英语协会的骨干总结和评论。

5主办方将宣布比赛结果，公布获奖名单并颁奖。

6主持人致闭幕词宣布比赛结束。

活动效果：

这次英语演讲比赛的活动对象主要是面向08级，09级，10级所有同学，相比较而言，10级的同学明显比08级、09级的同学更积极的参加到活动中来，参加比赛的同学大部分是10级的新生。尽管10级的新同学比较积极活跃，充满活力，但由于刚入学未参加许多活动的缘故，缺乏上台经验，都比较紧张，有些怯场；在这方面08级，09级的老生的表现就比10级的新生好上许多。比赛是以“——is my top concern”为题的定题演讲，题目因此多种多样，健康，亲情，友情······成为了演讲的主题。

表达学生对自己价值观的看法。比赛如火如荼的进行着。在所有选手演讲结束后，疯狂英语协会的会长对选手的演讲做了一个点评，指出了同学们在演讲时表现出的缺点和不足。

并饶有兴致的为同学们演讲了一段，以激励同学好好学习英语及锻炼口语。经过激烈的角逐，09级建环四班的孙晓飞获得了比赛一等奖。现场观众情绪很高涨；现场气氛很活跃。

活动不足：

一、 通知下发后，个别班级的学习委员没有及时通知到本班同学，个别班级不了解比赛情况，以后对口委员需要注意，以后再通知到所有相应班级的同时，要嘱咐班级相应的负责人通知到位。

2、 在组织抽签时，参与者没有按时到达抽签地点，抽签过程有点慢。

三、 初期动员工作做的不太好，报名参加比赛的同学，有许多中途退出的。今后，我们将努力提高和提高组织水平。

5月31日，是国际禁烟日。随着我们的成长，香烟似乎离我们越来越越近，特别是男生也开始吸烟，在我们的学习生活中，校园里，都有很多人在公共场合吸烟，这不仅残害了自己，也损害了他人。为了提高我们生活环境的和谐，促进人们道德的提升，加强同学们的创新能力，特此软件091团支部，软件093团支部和网络092团支部为此举办全系禁烟图标竞赛。

这项活动不仅丰富了我们的校园生活，锻炼了学生的创新能力，而且提高了我们的环境意识和道德水平。这次活动面向我们09级所有班级体，图标可以是手绘**，提高我们的动手能力，也可以通过photoshop制作**，运用我们的专业知识。所以这次活动对我们的创新能力和运用专业知识的能力都有一定的提高。

虽然这次活动取得了圆满成功，但仍有许多不足之处。如：各班级制作的图标有很多不是原创，作为主办方很难评选；在收集图标时，他们没有遵循计划的时间表；在期末图标决赛中，由于其他活动的影响，参加决赛的学生数量有限。

虽然这项活动有许多不足之处，但我们会从中吸取教训，以避免在下次活动中出现类似的不足。

xx年8月2日，***学院网络工程系在主楼**教室组织了一场英语演讲比赛，这次系里组织英语演讲比赛的目的是为了激发同学们学习英语的热情，提高大家对英语口语的兴趣，营造出一个良好的英语学习氛围。

1、 演讲比赛的准备和过程简介

为了使此次英语演讲比赛能够取得圆满成功，使更多的同学得到一个尽情挥洒创意，展现英语风采的舞台，我部在***老师的代领下，积极进行筹划活动，为英语演讲比赛做了大量的准备工作，此次演讲比赛主要针对大一的学生。大一学生参加的积极性很高，报名人数多，在我系大一学生新生中有一定的影响力，比赛设有初赛，复赛，和决赛，给选手们提供了更多的表现机会，体现“公平，公正，公开”的比赛原则。

在比赛初期，我部各干事在各班进行宣传，鼓励同学们积极报名，预赛报名率达到预定的40%参赛率，有个别班级甚至达到80%的参赛率，预赛于**月*日在***（地方）举行，经过裁判的评判和点评，共有四十名选手进入复赛，复赛于**月**日在***教室进行，有**名选手进入复赛，经过又一轮的角逐，共有十九名选手脱颖而出“冲”入决赛，决赛于8月2日正式拉开帷幕。

此次英语演讲比赛，我们请到了学校英语专业的外教***、***两位老师来当评委，网络系主任和其它领导均到场列席**比赛。本次比赛设一等奖1名，二等奖3名，三等奖5名。其它还有最佳选手奖等若干奖项。

此次演讲比赛诣在提高规范同学们的口语，与此同时，也锻炼了同学们的英语表述能力，使同学们积累了演讲比赛的经验，为此以后的大型演讲比赛提供了可能，通过这次比赛，不仅仅让同学们发挥了自己的潜能，向所有人展示了自己，而且为今后的专业性比赛奠定了基础。同时此次演讲比赛的成功举行，使我部全体干事对自己的工作进一步了认识和了解，对今后的工作充满了自信和动力，最后真诚地感谢系领导系学生会领导及所有同学对本次活动的支持，是你们的支持才有了此次活动的成功举办。

比赛中参赛选手准备很充分，演讲也很投入，并且充分表现出了自我的特色，让观众深深地领略了他们潇洒的口语风采，值得一提的是几乎每位参赛选手都能用流利的英语回答外教提出的问题。现场的五位评委公正地为每位选手打分。

比赛由命题演讲和即兴演讲两部分组成。在第一部分，我们表现得很好。有的选手发音语调很好；有的选手拥有激情和说服力；有的选手展示了自信的力量。大家都很好地传达了本次比赛的主题，同时为了调动同学们对学习英语的兴趣,提高同学们的英语口语能力和实用能力，在竞争如此激烈的当今社会中，想要不被滚滚浪潮所淘汰，必须掌握过硬的英语听说读写能力。

为了给同学们一个更好的展现自己风采的舞台，为了增强各专业同学在英语学习和应用方面的交流，我校将在明天举行第二届英语演讲比赛。

二、组织比赛的心得体会

(一)、准备工作充分,比赛顺利进行.

在xx，接到部门的指示后，他努力策划和组织这次活动。在学生会学习部的统筹下，把比赛中的各个环节与组织部、文艺部、纪检部、宣传部合作，如此细致的分工合作，为本次比赛顺利进行奠定了基础。（重点是宣传部、纪检部）

(二)、比赛严格按程序进行，体现“公平、公正、公开”原则

比赛选择：预赛、复赛和决赛。最终内容：评分规则。选手表现、主持人、观众

本届英语演讲比赛参赛选手水平普遍较高，他们在台上或抑扬顿挫，或激情澎湃。为保证选手们得到专业、公正的评判，比赛过程中，外语学院邀请了众多资深评委，包括：（）他们不仅为选手们作出了专业评论，还使整场比赛在轻松活跃的气氛中顺利进行。

决赛最终评选出

1、 颁发二、三等奖、最佳台风奖、最佳情报奖和获奖者奖，颁发证书和证书。

(三)、院、校领导对比赛的支持与肯定

此次英语演讲比赛不仅得到了广大同学的支持,而且也得到了校、院领导老师的大力支持与肯定.校团委书记**老师，教务处副处长**老师，等等都莅临决赛现场进行观摩，指导。比赛结束后，他充分肯定了本次比赛的成功，并称赞了商务英语学生会工作认真的态度，使比赛再次创出新高。

（四）、参赛选手对本次比赛的评价及宝贵意见。

怀着对英语的极大兴趣和对新事物的热情，我决定挑战自己参加这次比赛。通过这次比赛，我认识了很多新朋友，证明了自己的实力，也让我对英语学习更有信心。我希望所有的学生在将来的英语学习中能取得更大的成就。

对此次决赛之前，我部各班干事到各班进行宣传组织各班学生到赛场进行观看，以扩大演讲比赛的影响力。在正式比赛之前为体现“公平”原则，组织各参赛选手进行抽签，已决定各选手上场顺序，比赛过程中，每两名选手进行一次统分及报分，以体现比赛的“公开”性。决赛结束后，各评委对选手的表现进行了点评，只出了个选手在比赛过程中的不足和缺点，提出对同学们的期望，以及对同学们的鼓励，经过评委的评比打分，最终角逐出：一等奖1名，二等奖2名，三等奖3名，最佳人气奖1名，最佳才艺奖1名，以及优胜奖若干名。 他们分别是

为了配合学校英语改革，提高同学们的英语口语与交际能力，按照学校要求，学习部主办了这次汉学院英语演讲比赛初赛选拔，目的是通过同学们的积极参与提升同学们对英语的兴趣以及演讲的能力，另一方面选拔出一名最优秀的同学代表我院参加校级的英语演讲比赛。在2010年十月九日于d区209教室举办了这次英语演讲比赛。活动过程如下：

一． 准备工作：

1做好宣传工作，鼓励学生参加英语演讲比赛。并通知各年级、各班学习委员会成员做好通知和宣传工作。另一方面，要对报名的学生进行记录，并做好时间、地点的通知。

2提前邀请评委。这次我们邀请了4位评委，他们都是我院优秀的学生代表，可以保证比赛的公平公正。

三。场地布置：提前安排好比赛场地，把比赛过程写在黑板上，让选手顺利发言。

邀请负责计时的学生确保每个参赛者的讲话不超过三分钟。选手到场后，安排各位选手就位，按号码上场

二、比赛进程：

1. 各位选手上场按照主题进行精彩的演讲，每位选手的表现都十分出色，一方面演讲非常流利，另一方面表情和动作非常有感染力，他们的笑容感染了在场的每位同学。

2、在每位同学演讲后有问答环节，评委用英语提问，考验了各位选手的现场反应能力，更能反应出每位同学的英语口语交际能力。

三。评委根据选手的演讲内容、演讲表现和答题表现对选手进行评分。

4两个小时后，所有的演讲者都结束了演讲，整个演讲比赛结束了。

演讲比赛结束后，学习部负责统计所有选手的总分，并计算出每位选手的平均分。选出分数最高的一位同学，本次比赛的冠军是零八级的刘迪佳。并通知她准备校级的演讲比赛。

为了激发广大同学学习英语的热情，提高同学们对英语口语的兴趣，营造一个良好的英语学习氛围，为更多的同学提供一个尽情挥洒创意，展现英语风采的舞台，同时也为了检测英语学习水平，在学校倡导下，教导处的指导下，由英语教研组承办的英才实验学校第二届英语演讲比赛活动就要结束了，大家正在等待比赛结果，名次虽重要，但不是活动的最终目的，用活动推动校园文化，振奋师生精神，促进学习和工作，寓教育教学于活动之中，可谓活动之成功。

这次英语竞赛学生的积极性很高，报名人数众多，影响很大。比赛给选手们提供了更多的表现机会，体现“公平，公正，公开”的比赛原则。为了达到“公平、公正、公开”，训练期间，各班都进行了民主评选，决定参赛选手；在比赛之前，组织各参赛选手进行抽签，以决定各选手上场顺序，体现比赛的“公平”性；比赛过程中，每个节目进行一次报分及统分，以体现比赛的“公开”性。

在统分过程中，采用去掉一个最低分和一个最高分计算成绩，体现了比赛的“公正”性。经过评委评审打分，最终分为小学和初中两个部分，分别开除一等奖、二等奖、三等奖和优秀奖。

此次演讲比赛诣在提高规范同学们的口语，与此同时，也锻炼了同学们的英语表述能力，使同学们积累了演讲比赛的经验。通过这次比赛，不仅让学生充分发挥自己的潜能，向每个人展示自己，也为未来的成长奠定基础。

本次比赛大家表现很精彩，有的选手有着出色的发音、语调；有的选手拥有激情和说服力；有的选手展示了自信的力量。我们都很好地传达了比赛的主题。

本次英语演讲比赛从总体来看还是比较满意

1主持人口语流利、标准。

2整体气氛很好，可以引起高潮。

内容新颖、积极，符合当代大学生的生活和学习主题，值得推广。

但就细节而言，仍有许多不尽人意的地方

1、 从策划来看、不够严密、有很多疏忽漏洞的地方、比如说嘉宾的邀请函、评委的邀请、礼仪、以及座场的安排都有很大的漏洞、以至于导致这场比赛没有系统的进行。

2、 从比赛过程来看、主持人明显偏台、驾驭整场比赛的能力要提高，在舞台上来回跑动次数多、还有就是幕后操作者，参赛者***多次出错、使得整个场面很尴尬。

三。从管理工作人员的秩序来看，整个场地并不安静，对参赛者不尊重，整个场面感觉有点混乱。需待提高！

为了激发广大同学学习英语的热情，提高同学对英语口语的兴趣，营造一个良好的英语学习氛围，为更多的同学提供一个尽情挥洒创意，展现英语风采的舞台，我部在得到老师和同学的支持下，于本月举行了英语演讲比赛，此次比赛主要针对大一的学生。大一学生参加的积极性很高，报名人数多，在我系大一学生新生中有一定的影响力，比赛设有初赛，复赛，和决赛，给选手们提供了更多的表现机会，体现“公平，公正，公开”的比赛原则。

在比赛初期，大课堂各干事在各班进行宣传，鼓励各班的同学积极报名，预赛报名率达到预定的40%参赛率，有个别班级甚至达到80%的参赛率，预赛于11月12日在1514.1513.1512进行，经过裁判的评判和点评，共有四十名选手进入复赛，复赛于11月15日在1514教室进行，四十名进入复赛的选手，经过又一轮的角逐，共有十九民选手脱颖而出“冲”入决赛，决赛于11月23日19：00在2109教室正式拉开帷幕

决赛荣幸地邀请了外籍老师Richard和Bob，外语系英语老师（ )老师，( )老师。作为本次演讲比赛的评委，并且邀请0903班宾东和0901班杨逸作为本次比赛的主持人。09级多语系刘佳敏同学也为本次比赛带来了最为精彩的演讲。学生会主席和书记均列席观看。

对此次决赛之前，我部各班干事到各班进行宣传组织各班学生到赛场进行观看，以扩大演讲比赛的影响力。在正式比赛之前为体现“公平”原则，组织各参赛选手进行抽签，已决定各选手上场顺序，比赛过程中，每两名选手进行一次统分及报分，以体现比赛的“公开”性。决赛结束后，各评委对选手的表现进行了点评，只出了个选手在比赛过程中的不足和缺点，提出对同学们的期望，以及对同学们的鼓励，经过评委的评比打分，最终角逐出：一等奖1名，二等奖2名，三等奖3名，最佳人气奖1名，最佳才艺奖1名，以及优胜奖若干名。

Today I am going to tell you a true story about a life-altering event that happened to an old hunter from Tibet’s northern lands.

Early in the morning, the hunter saw a group of Tibetan antelopes on grass hill near his tent. He rushed out of his tent and mounted his horse with his rifle. The antelopes all quickly ran away except one. A strong, fat one ran only a few steps and came back. It looked imploringly at him, stepped up towards him and then knelt on its knees with tears streaming down from its eyes. Feeling softhearted for a flashing moment, the hunter did not pull the trigger. But after he shut his eyes, pulled the trigger and the antelope fell onto the ground in a kneeling position with discernible tears still on its face.

The old hunter restlessly cut the Tibetan antelope open. What he had saw made him choke on his breath and the knife fell on the ground with a crash. He saw a baby antelope lying in the womb, surely dead. All of a sudden he realized why the antelope was strong and fat and why it heavily knelt before him and cried: It was imploring him to have mercy on its baby!

The old hunter buried the antelope and its unborn baby together with his hunting rifle that day

I will never forget this story. Today I told it to more people and I’d like to point out: In the world the kneeling of loving mothers, whatever of human being or animal is sacred. Lives of all kinds are equal. Let us care about the nature, care about our life with our affection and respect to the life. Hopefully we could live harmoniously, as part of nature.

School had been very easy for me in the beginning. I had been the usual routine---show up for school, complete assignments, take tests, get grades. And that was usually straight A’s. I thought school was that easy.

i could hardly believe my ears. tears streamed down my face. he wanted me - me!

this man had no obligation to me, but he was reaching out from his heart, and i accepted. during the adoption proceedings, the judge ***mented on all the undesirable duties of his profession and then with a tear in his eye, thanked us for brightening his day as he pronounced us father and daughter. i was twenty-five, but i was his little girl.

three short years later, bob, too, was diagnosed with cancer and was gone within the year. at first i was hurt and angry at god for taking this father away too. but eventually the love and acceptance that i felt from dad came through again, and i became, once more, grateful for the years we had.

on father's day i always reflect on what i've learned about fatherhood. i've learned that it is not dependent on biology or even on raising a child. fatherhood is a matter of the heart.

The problem is, if you don’t exercise you will become weak and ultimately out of shape and it is no fun to be out of shape, right? So the question is, why not turn exercise into fun?

As an example, if TV is your favorite thing to do, why not connect your TV set to an electric generator that is charged by a stationary bike, you know, the kind of bike you peddle, that doesn’t go anywhere. So think about it, the more you watch TV, the fitter you’ll be.

Now if you are the kind of person who thinks listening to music is fun and you spend many hours alone tap tap tapping your fingers and your toes to the beat, why not take it one step further and get up on your feet and dance, dance, dance.

Or maybe you’re the type of person who prefers being with your friends. There are many ways one could have fun with their pals. For instance you could just hang out and do nothing or better yet you could get into a friendly game of basketball or football there is no rule that says everyone has to be as good as Yao Ming or David Beckham, right?

However sometimes there just aren’t enough players, or you may even be alone in which case you could go for a ride on your bike, maybe, stop by the library to borrow a book, or go for a walk around the park and enjoy the sunshine and scenery. Before you know it, you’re having fun.

Let’s face it, exercise is work and when we think of work we think of thankless underpaid hardships yet it needn’t be this way, if we think of exercise as fun.

16years ago, my mother visited one of the grassland of Inner Mongolia. She said that no words could describe its stunning natural charm. With her description firmly printed on my mind I began to long for a tour to the grassland.

Sadly, this marvelous image that I had in my mind changed

completely when my mum and I visited the grassland a year ago. As soon as we got there, I couldnt believe my eyes. What was in front of me was just a piece of land with loosely grown grass. In the far distance I saw only a couple of horses feeding lazily. I asked my mother: “Where is the lush, tall grass?” As puzzled as me, she said nothing. I was shocked to see the differences between the grassland in my dream and what was in front of me.

On the way home, I thought a lot and tried to find answers.

Now I am old enough to bring awareness to other people and share my dream for the grasslands. Overgrazing and extensive farming have

ruined the grassland and so taken away the charm of our homeland. But I am confident that one day the grasslands will recover and its true wealth and beauty will be realized as long as everybody gives his contribution to restore our homeland.
